Ms.Whiting's Blog Questions on the Holocaust :)

When should an individual take a stand against what he/she believes to be an injustice? What are the benefits and consequences of questioning / challenging social order?

-I think an individual should take stand, when any values or morals have been broken, that mean something to them or if one of their acquaintances has been wrongly accused for something that harms many people who are actually innocent. If they take a stand immediately then they will be smarter, because then the party that could come to power will be exposed to the community. If they don’t speak out though, then no one will know what kind of fraud the party truly is. Most of the time, people don’t speak out though because they don’t want to cause any trouble for their family members and others, so they just go with the flow. The benefits are that rightfulness and justice will be restored, and everyone will see the lies of the Nazi Party and how much of a fraud they were. Some consequences are that the person who did speak out will get persecuted or even executed. For Kotler, his father didn't agree with the party rules, so Kotler's life was endangered when they found out, because he was moved to the front.
